A family of six will have to find someplace else to escape the heat after a fire made their home unlivable Saturday morning. The Mesa Fire and Medical Department said passers-by reported a fire at a home northwest of Horne and Southern Avenue. Responding firefighters saw a column of smoke as they approached the scene and requested more units. According to the Mesa Fire & Medical Department, an exterior fire had spread to the attic. Eight crews – 28 people – knocked the fire down quickly. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross is helping the family with their immediate needs.
