PHOTO: A pet dog didn't make it after a fire sparked at a house in Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters were called out to a home on 31st Avenue just south of Bethany Home Road. When crews got there, they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the house. Crews did a quick search of the house while others attacked the fire in the back of the house. Additional firefighters were called out because of the extreme heat, bringing the total to about 40 firefighters. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to other homes and they saved the majority of the house. Everyone inside got out before fire crews got there. Unfortunately, a dog died. An investigation is underway into what caused the fire.
