An early morning fire chased three people from their Phoenix apartment early Thursday morning. It happened near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, right by the Abrazo Central Campus. “Firefighters responded to reports of a car fire that was dangerously close to a single-story apartment complex,” Phoenix Fire Capt. Kenny Overton said. One team tackled the car fire while another took hose lines inside. Flames spread to one unit in the complex, but firefighters quickly contained it. A photo from the scene showed the burnt-out shell of a vehicle in a carport. The Phoenix Fire Department’s Crisis Response Unit is helping the people who cannot return home. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
