Yuma Fire Department personnel work to extinguish a fire in a high-lift bucket truck that was being used to trim trees Thursday morning in the backyard of a home in the 2100 block of West 5th Place. Fire investigators on scene determined the truck caught fire when the boom on the truck touched nearby live power lines. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire and keep it from spreading to any nearby residences or other structures. The fire was contained to the truck and surrounding vegetation. Also, according to YFD, the person operating the boom saw flames start to come from the boom and jumped a few feet from the bucket to the ground. There were no injuries. The area surrounding the fire scene lost power, including Pecan Grove Elementary School.
