The Chandler City Council on Wednesday approved nearly $5.8 million in funding for a construction company to rebuild the city’s busiest fire station.
Core Construction, Inc. will work to rebuild Chandler Fire Station No. 282, located near Alma School and Warner roads, as it is undersized for the area’s needs, officials said in a press release.
“Station No. 282 is located in an ideal location and consistently handles our highest call volumes in Chandler,” Fire Chief Tom Dwiggins said in the release.
“These improvements will enable a second engine company to be relocated to the new station, improving our emergency response capabilities in this area of Chandler.”
The fire station is set to be built in stages at the site, with the new station anticipated to bring four vehicle bays for fire apparatuses and a facility to house two four-person engine companies that are on-site, the city said
