On May 26, crews looked to build on recent gains.
Officials say a southern Arizona wildfire, which forced evacuations that have since been lifted, is now 30% contained.
The roughly 2,149-acre Elgin Bridge Fire is burning on Mustang Mountain, about a quarter mile northeast of Elgin, near the Santa Cruz and Cochise County line.
Tiffany Davila with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said firefighters set out to build containment lines to protect communities west of the blaze and a ranch to the southeast.
“Crews are making good strides on the fire. There is not a lot of smoke showing within the interior of the fire,” said Davila.
Mild weather let firefighters stop forward progress on Wednesday night.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
