VIDEO: First responders described a wild rescue near Apache Lake in the Superstition Mountains after a man crashed along State Route 88 just after midnight on Sunday. This video shows just how quickly technical teams worked to rappel down to get the trapped man out of his mangled car and to the hospital. “It’s a 40 minute, 45 minute response time to where this accident was,” said Barbara Foord, a paramedic with AMR. In the video, Foord and her partner, Jessica Heavin, can be heard yelling to the man: “I hear you, buddy. Stay with me! I know I see you! He’s not walking.” In these critical moments, both of them communicate with patients until rescuers can reach them. “I just stayed there to make sure I kept talking to him every couple of minutes to make sure he was still responding to me,” Heavin said.
