Pius Fire burns 400+ acres northeast of Payson

VIDEO: A wildfire burning out of control about 25 miles northeast of Payson forced some evacuations on Monday evening. According to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, people in and around Bear Canyon Lake and Knoll Lake have been told to leave because of the Pius Fire. The fire started in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests on Monday afternoon. The Pius Fire has burned over 400 acres and smoke can be seen from space. Crews in the air and on the ground are battling the flames. The cause of the fire is unknown.
