Marc Domingo says he’s wanted to be a Vallejo firefighter since his neighbor’s house caught fire when he was young, threatening his own.
“Marc watched as the Vallejo Fire Department took action, saving his home,” Department spokesman Kevin Brown said.
On April 15, Domingo joined five other new firefighter recruits at the department’s Curtola Parkway Training Grounds, for the start of a new academy class, he said. “It’s appropriate the new academy begins on Tax Day, as the 16-week program will be one of the most physically and mentally taxing periods of their lives,” Brown said. “Ask any of the new recruits and they’ll tell you that they’re eager to serve our local community.”
The department tries to hold an academy each spring, but this has not always happened, he said.
