The City of San Luis Obispo selected a longtime fire professional as their new deputy fire chief in San Luis Obispo on Thursday morning. Fire Chief Keith Aggson announced Michael Alforque as the new Deputy Fire Chief. The Deputy Fire Chief supervises emergency response crews, oversees the department's training program and assists the city's disaster preparedness education efforts. Alforque has been a Battalion Fire Chief for the City of Fresno since 2016 and joins the city with 25 years of experience in the fire service. Before serving in Fresno, Alforque served with Kern County Fire Department as an A//V Specialist for three years. Alforque is a Safety Officer on the California Interagency Incident Management Team 4, an all-hazards emergency response team.
