Fire Rips Through Oakland Outlet Store in Fruitvale; Firefighter Injured

Firefighters knocked down a two-alarm blaze at a store in Oakland's Fruitvale District. The Monday afternoon fire was at the Oakland Outlet store near the the Fruitvale BART station. The fire was reported at 11:22 a.m. in the 3300 block of Farnam Street, about one block north of International Boulevard. "We immediately upgraded our response to a second alarm due to the close neighboring buildings," Oakland Fire Lt. Charleton Lightfoot said. The blaze was extinguished by 12:12 p.m. A firefighter suffered a minor injury. The firefighters was treated and released at the scene. Streets in the area are blocked off while firefighters continue to investigate a cause.
