An elderly woman was rescued from a burning home on Serra Avenue midday Thursday, Dec. 5.
The woman’s daughter, granddaughter and hospice care provider, got her out of the home at 6870 Serra Ave., shortly after 12:30 p.m. Atascadero police officers and firefighters assisted the family when they arrived on the scene.
Paramedics attended to the woman on the street in front of the house before San Luis Ambulance Services transported her to the hospital.
Everyone inside the home, including two dogs, got out of the house without being injured by the flames. Firefighters from Atascadero, Templeton and Atascadero State Hospital fire departments contained the blaze to what appeared to be a garage converted into a room on the south end of the east-facing, single-story home.
