San Francisco Fire Department officials are looking into the security procedures at their fire stations after police announced a burglary that occurred at a station last month. On Monday, police said officers on May 24 learned about the burglary at the fire department's Station 19, located at 390 Buckingham Way. Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Baxter said fire officials at the station began noticing items missing, including a firefighter badge, nameplate and uniform shirt. The suspect apparently walked in through an apparatus door, which usually remains open so firefighters and their trucks can quickly enter and exit in case of an emergency, Baxter said. "We're reevaluating our security procedures and reevaluating our tools to enhance safety at that station," he said.
