Crews extinguished a two-alarm fire that tore through a furniture store in an El Monte strip mall on Tuesday, June 11.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, which started at about 2:45 p.m. in a middle unit of a one-story strip mall in the 9900 block of East Valley Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The store was filled with finished furniture and crews had to contend with high temperatures as the blaze engulfed the building’s contents, Fire Department officials said.
Crews got a handle on the fire by about 3:45 p.m. and it was mostly extinguished about 10 minutes later, according to the fire department.
It was unclear what might have sparked the fire as of Tuesday afternoon.
