Cal Fire has reported Thursday that Mendocino Unit firefighter Jim Buckley passed away due to illness on June 13.
No further information on Buckley's passing was immediately available. A message was left for Cal Fire which was not immediately returned.
Hopland Fire Protection District responded to Buckley's death on Facebook, saying: "Today, we mourn the loss of one of our CalFire brothers, Jim Buckley. Jim was a great friend to all of us at Hopland Fire. He was an amazing firefighter and an inspiration to many of us. His story was great and his heart was huge. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his CalFire family. Thanks for everything Jim, we will take it from here brother."
