The Shasta County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, March 5 will decide whether they will make an approval of a budget increase of funds to help begin the cleanup process of Keswick Volunteer Fire Station 53 after it was destroyed by the Carr Fire.
The damaged fire station structure still stands and has not gone through the debris removal cleanup like the properties in the surrounding area due to the fire station on county property.
According to the agenda, the budget increase would fund around $150,000 in the county service area budget for the clean up. Keswick Fire Chief Joe Pollard said hearing the news about the proposed budget is a relief for him and his crew waiting to return home to their station.
"Fantastic. We are excited that that's happening. I've been talking to Shasta County Fire about when they are going to start with the cleanup and hopefully rebuilding our station so we are extremely excited," Pollard said.
