The Torrance Fire Department is holding itself to a higher standard — promising that the bar will keep getting raised year after year — as it moves towards a more data-oriented mindset, focused on increased transparency and accountability. The department handed the 2018 Annual Quality Improvement Update Report to the Torrance City Council on Tuesday, March 19. It’s the third report to come out of the department over the past year. While previous disclosures have been foundational, describing the department’s capabilities as well as its shortcomings, in this latest report, the department is outlining the steps taken to rectify some of those shortcomings.
