Arson suspect arrested in Shasta County admits to starting fire while on meth, Cal Fire says

A Redding man was arrested by Cal Fire law enforcement officers after they say he admitted to starting a vegetation fire, while on meth. Cal Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire on Saturday, Aug. 1 around 10:05 p.m. near the intersection of Iron Mountain Road and Keswick Dam Road in the community of Keswick – Shasta County. As firefighters arrived, they noticed a man, later identified as 29-year-old Chris Fannin, of Redding, in the area of the fire, acting irrationally, according to Cal Fire. Fannin was contacted by Cal Fire law enforcement officers and admitted to being under the influence of meth, according to officers. He also admitted to setting the fire. He was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail on arson-related charges.
