The U.S. Forest Service said Friday morning that the wildfire burning in a remote part of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest is now 20% contained.
Fire officials determined that the cause of the fire was due to thunderstorms. Forest officials said several small wildfires ignited over the past weekend, three of them were discovered and contained before they grew larger than 0.1 acres. However, the Brock Fire, grew larger than the others.
Shasta-Trinity National Forest crews said the acreage has been mapped out again, confirming it's 15-acres. Crews worked overnight and will transition with new crews Friday.
National Forest officials said it's near Brock Mountain, north of the Pit River near the east end of Shasta Lake.
The closest community is Jones Valley, about eight miles away. The fire was spotted by an Alert Wildfire Camera, just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
A fire information officer said it's burning in an extremely remote area, with no road or homes.
