It took dozens of firefighters to battle a large fire in Stockton Tuesday morning.
The five-alarm fire broke out around 5 a.m. at the Mizkan America tomato processing plant on Waterloo Road and D Street.
Raging flames shot at least 100 feet in the air as thick black smoke billowed into the sky.
Neighbors said they woke up to what looked like a dark storm cloud growing over their east Stockton neighborhood.
“I live, like, right around the corner from this, so I seen it from my balcony,” said Robert Lathan.
Mike Ryan was heading out to a job when he saw the flames and took a video on his phone.
“When I first pulled up on it, one firetruck was there and they were running out hoses and you can hear more coming,” he told FOX40.
Approximately 1 1/2 acres of stacks of empty plastic pallets were burning.
Ryan said the smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away for most of Tuesday morning.
