Redding police arrested a man they say tried to set a home on fire and then crashed his car into it. Police say 27-year-old Cody Bugarin of Redding kicked in the door at a home on the 3500 block of Capricorn Way sometime before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Once inside officers say he began pouring gas around the inside of the home and tried to set it on fire. Witnesses say Bugarin tried to drive away from the scene in his car until he spotted officers. Officers say Bugarin tried to quickly turn around and crashed into that same home. Bugarin ran back into the home and was arrested by police after a short standoff. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, arson, burglary, criminal threats, and more.
