The Dixie Fire has grown to 208,206 acres and 23 containment as of Tuesday morning. The fire grew by about 10,000 acres from Monday night to Tuesday morning. Some of that growth is due to intentional firing operations to eliminate fuel for the fire. At Monday evening's fire briefing, firefighters said they were working to establish dozer lines and firing operations that would protect the communities of Jonesville, Butte Meadows and the areas around Lake Almanor. They said the weather was helping them be successful in their recent operations, as the fire was less active and spreading more slowly than last week. As of Monday night, CAL FIRE Chief Mike Wink said the fire was about half a mile from Jonesville and 1.5 miles from Butte Meadows. "A lot of effort is being place and here we know there's a lot of folks evacuated out of there." Wink said.
