The spreading flames of the Dixie Fire are keeping CAL FIRE’s Air Attack Base in Chico very busy. Action News Now spoke with an air attack supervisor that has been out on the front lines since the second day the fire started and shared what it has been like. "We're seeing erratic fire behavior, it's been challenging,” said Skye McGregor. McGregor assists the pilot of the air attack aircraft to help guide all other planes and helicopters in the area that are dropping water and retardant. “My job is kind of an umbrella over the fire, I have all of those assets and resources underneath me and I'm making sure they're doing the right thing,” McGregor said. Rick Carhart with CAL FIRE said planes use the Chico Air Attack Base to refuel and reload on retardant.
