Four vegetation fires sent a plume of smoke over the Burney area on Monday.
The fires broke out shortly after 6 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 299 and Highway 89, according to Cal Fire.
In total, the fires have burned just under an acre, officials say.
The cause is under investigation and firefighters will remain on scene throughout the morning and afternoon hours.
The Northstate is on fire alert as gusty winds and dry conditions make for red flag conditions.
Late Sunday night, another fire broke out off Big Bend Road in eastern Shasta County.
The fire, which was sparked by lightning, burned two acres before firefighters got it under control.
