Crews rescued two people from the water in the area of the Cosumnes River near Cosumnes River Preserve in Sacramento County, officials said Tuesday. The Cosumnes Fire Department said the two were helped onshore and into a fire ambulance near the visitors center at 13501 Franklin Boulevard in Galt. Rescuers went to the riverbank closest to the 7000 block of Desmond Road, and a boat entered the river by the visitors center. Cosumnes Fire Department said a couple dozen ground and boat crew members and a CHP helicopter were all part of the rescue. Rescue crews said a man and woman who live on a boat in one of the sloughs off the Cosumnes River left their boat a bit earlier in the day when the water level was much lower.
