A vegetation fire in Fairfield has been extinguished Thursday afternoon, police said. Fairfield firefighters and police responded Thursday morning to a four-alarm vegetation fire burning in the area, with police initially issuing an alert shortly before 10:45 a.m. about the fire in the area of Hancock Drive and Discovery Way. Discovery Way remains closed and police are asking people to avoid the area. The road was expected to open in approximately an hour, police said as of about 12:30 p.m. No structures were burned and no evacuations were ordered. Police later said the fire was caused by a spark from a mower.
