Temperatures dropped into the 70s to low 90s on Wednesday, helping firefighters make progress on fires burning in Siskiyou County.
Vegetation was still very dry, but winds were light on Wednesday, with gusts up to 15 mph, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Similar light winds and gusts out of the west and northwest are expected on Thursday.
Here's the status of fires burning in the North State. On Wednesday, firefighters made progress on the McKinney Fire, burning in the Klamath National Forest, west and northwest of Yreka.
Containment remained at 75% Thursday — up from 60% Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The fire didn't grow overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, remaining at 60,389 acres.
