A two-alarm fire burned at a senior living facility in Pleasant Hill Thursday afternoon, with firefighters rescuing a victim trapped on a second-floor balcony.
The fire was reported at around 1:15 p.m. at Hookston Senior Homes at 80 W. Hookston Road, just west of Contra Costa Boulevard and Interstate Highway 680. “How quickly that went from one apartment to the whole thing; burned it so fast,” said Anjana Ahlborn, a witness who was at the complex visiting a friend.
Just before 2 p.m., the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District tweeted that fire had been knocked down and three victims were rescued from balconies.
