Ellie has a contagious smile and an even more infectious laugh. Wearing a Tulare City Police Department uniform Wednesday, she walked the halls of the department’s building, grinning ear-to-ear. It was one of the few requests the Make-A-Wish foundation was fulfilling for Ellie. “To get the opportunity for this young lady, it’s immeasurable,” Tulare Police Chief Wes Hensley said. “It’s bittersweet but we are always happy to be a part of that. Making the wish come true is huge.” Ellie, 20, loves the Tulare police and fire departments, so much so, that she draws pictures of police officers and firefighters in her free time. She and her family declined questions during the event. Oh, and she really, really loves the sound of sirens. So, when Make-A-Wish learned about Ellie, they knew exactly who to call.
