Firefighters are responding to the River Fire in Colusa County near the Sacramento River.
At around 7 p.m., the Colusa County Sheriff's Office said the fire had burned 600 acres with 50% containment.
Deputies say due to the wind direction is unpredictable, "notifications are being made to residents in the area for precaution on the north side of the Sacramento River on the west side of River Road in Colusa." Deputies are "not calling for an evacuation" at this time. Alisa LeRoux, who lives on the north side of Colusa, said the wind was blowing in their direction for a time, raising her concerns that the blaze could come her way for a while.
"The big giant plume of smoke is gone, and has mostly moved its way past town," she said.
