All evacuation orders were lifted on Wednesday for Placer and El Dorado counties, allowing residents to return home as rain and cooler temperatures helped suppress the Mosquito Fire's activity and aided firefighters in their containment.
As of Thursday morning, the fire had burned 76,539 acres and is 60% contained. Containment is a measure of the perimeter crews have established to prevent the spread of a wildfire. The past few days, rain in the area aided crews in getting a better handle on the wildfire. At least 78 structures have been destroyed, and 13 structures damaged.
