Why does an NFL star’s autographed jersey adorn the Pine Valley fire station, whose occupants serve the Cuyamaca Mountain community and other folks in central San Diego County?
Because of smart teamwork that likely saved a man’s life and mind last month.
All-Pro receiver Davante Adams provided an autographed Raiders jersey to San Diego County Fire Station 44 in appreciation of the paramedics and 911 operator who revived local resident Darryl Chapman, 72, with a large assist from Chapman’s wife, Jackie. Chapman, whose son Kenny works with the NFL star, went into cardiac arrest at home Sunday morning, Dec. 11.
Jackie followed the 911 operator’s calm instructions, in moving her husband and performing cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
