VIDEO: There are new details about the out-of-town firefighters who were in Chico to fight the Park Fire. While they were off duty, they jumped into action to save a 7-year-old girl in Chico from drowning. The firefighters, who were from Santa Clara County, saw the young girl drowning at America’s Best Value Inn.
The Gilroy City Fire Department said three of their firefighters were headed to grab food when they noticed her. One of them, Captain Daniel Lozano, said the 7-year-old was underwater, unresponsive and not breathing. “We made contact with the female in the pool,” Lozano said. “We were able to pull her out, call 911 and report it to local fire and police. After performing a couple of rounds of CPR and giving respirations with a bagged valve mask, the patient was able to begin breathing again."
