VIDEOS: The Royal Fire, burning in the Tahoe National Forest, is now 200-acres large but still 0% contained. The Forest Service says the fire sparked late Sunday afternoon in the Royal Gorge of the North Fork of the American River. Fire crews say, "there has been little progress on containment due to extremely steep and difficult to access terrain." On Monday, the Placer County Sheriff's Office helped rescue 13 hikers that went missing within the Royal Fire zone. Deputies say they ranged in age from 16-20 and were located by helicopter. The Placer County Sheriff's Office says an evacuation warning was issued for five homes on Soda Springs Road. Soda Springs Road is closed from 1.25 miles south of the Serene Road intersection, to the intersection of Soda Springs Road and Forest Service Road 6001-35. Tahoe National Forest has issued a fire area closure order.
