The Berthoud Fire Protection District has hired seven new full-time firefighters and created four new battalion chief positions in a restructuring to keep up with demand as Berthoud continues to grow.
Cory Tovar, Haylee McCollugh, Jasmine Crane, Chris Robinson, Tori Schneider, Sam Tokar and Jacob Everhart were sworn into the Berthoud Fire Protection District at a ceremony at New Freedom Outreach Center on Feb. 8. All seven were previously volunteer or reserve firefighters with the district.
The battalion chief positions were filled by Scott Lindschmidt, Nico Romero, Lyle Fenderson and Andrew Kuiken. The four of them combined have over 75 years of service with the Fire District, according to a press release.
One of the battalion chiefs, Kuiken, will serve as a training officer, a new position created at the Fire District that will help coordinate training for firefighters across the district, the release said.
