I-70 Reopens, Evacuations Lifted For Bradbury Krebs Fire Burning Near Byers

VIDEO: A portion of Interstate 70 was closed for hours and evacuations ordered on Tuesday as crews rushed to put out a wildfire. The fire burned less than 100 acres and no structures were lost. Both directions of I-70 were closed at Exit 316, US 36 Byers and reopened just after 2 p.m. A total of 96 acres burned and about 100 homes targeted in the evacuation order have been allowed to return home. No structures burned in the fire. The Arapahoe County Wildland Fire Team is working along with other jurisdictions including Byers Fire District, South Metro Fire Rescue, Bennett Fire and more on the fire. What started the fire is being investigated. A helicopter was making water drops on the fire from a nearby retention pond.
