No injuries were reported late Tuesday morning when a car suddenly caught fire in front of a home on George Street.
Deputy Fire Chief Robert Poggio said it’s still unclear why the front of the vehicle, a BMW sedan, began burning. No injuries were reported, as no one was in the car at the time.
The call came in at about 11:45 a.m. that a car parked in front of 44 George St. was on fire. Firefighters put out the flames very quickly, Poggio said. They had some difficulty prying the hood open to give the engine a good soaking, as to ensure the fire was completely extinguished, because the cables to the safety latches were charred up.
