A Sunday evening fire at a Stratford Avenue building displaced 10 people, but injured no one, according to fire officials. Bridgeport Deputy Fire Chief Ronald Rolfe said, at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, the Bridgeport Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Stratford Ave at Logan Street.
“Upon arrival crews found heavy fire on third floor in the rear of the building extending to the attic space,” Rolfe said in an email. “Members initiated an aggressive interior attacked and started to search for victims reported to be in the dwelling. Fortunately all residents self evacuated prior to our arrival.” Crews worked rapidly to knock down the fire. No injuries were reported at the scene and the Red Cross is assisting the 10 occupants that have been displaced from their homes. Rolfe said the fire was brought under control in roughly 20 minutes.
