Two people were taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation late Sunday afternoon after a fire broke out in a Collins Road home.
The blaze was reported shortly before 4:15 p.m. First responders saw fire showing from a bedroom window in front of the home and rescued two people trapped on a rear deck, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. Firefighters safely rescued two dogs, however, a third could not be resuscitated.
The initial alarm brought in units from the Hazardville and Shaker Pines fire departments in Enfield and Ambulance Service of Manchester.
A second alarm summoned firefighters from Enfield Fire District, East Longmeadow and Crystal Lake Fire Department in Ellington.
Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack and knocked down the blaze, which was confined to the bedroom its hallway, according to the post.
