Thirty-one people were displaced by a three-alarm fire that ripped through two residences Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly after 1 p.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Madison Avenue. The three-story housing structure became a three-alarm fire that affected a structure adjacent to it, according to the news release. Fire units reported heavy fire on the second and third floors of the multi-family home. Fire personnel quickly and safely evacuated all the tenants. A Greater Bridgeport Transit bus served as a temporary warning shelter for the displaced residents.
Both buildings sustained severe fire and water damage, the news release said. Approximately 31 people were evacuated and are all temporarily displaced, the news release said.
