Thirty-one people were displaced by a three-alarm fire that ripped through two residences Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after 1 p.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Madison Avenue. The three-story housing structure became a three-alarm fire that affected a structure adjacent to it, according to the news release. Fire units reported heavy fire on the second and third floors of the multi-family home. Fire personnel quickly and safely evacuated all the tenants. A Greater Bridgeport Transit bus served as a temporary warning shelter for the displaced residents. Both buildings sustained severe fire and water damage, the news release said.
