Milford battles 2-alarm barn fire

PHOTO: Firefighters are responding the scene of a fire in a large barn on Town Farm Road Friday morning. The blaze broke out shortly after 9 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the found the barn fully involved. A call was put out for water tankers from area departments. By 9:30 a.m., Brookfield, Bridgewater, Sherman and Bethel fire departments sent engines and tankers to assist New Milford firefighters at the scene. Ten minutes later, Brookfield fire dispatch put out a call for additional crew members and Sherman dispatch sent out a call to send help. Water Witch Hose Co. and neighboring departments tankers shuttled water from Grove Street and Hine Hill. Firefighters are using water from a nearby pond to refill the tankers. At 10:12 a.m., the bulk of the fire had been knocked down.
