Enfield Fire District officials are urging taxpayers to attend two upcoming meetings on the district’s proposal to purchase two new vehicles — a pumper and an aerial ladder truck — at a combined cost of more than $2.2 million.
The first meeting, set for Thursday, Jan. 10, will provide information on the proposal to buy the new fire apparatuses. The other meeting, set for Thursday, Jan. 17, is for taxpayers to vote on the proposal.
Both meetings will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Enfield Fire Department District 1 headquarters at 200 Phoenix Ave. Fire Chief Edward Richards said the department is asking district voters to approve funds to replace the two oldest vehicles in its fleet — a pumper, an apparatus with a water pump and water tank — and an aerial ladder truck, which has a multisection extending ladder, elevating platform, or water tower.
