The Ridgefield Fire Department and two of its members — Rommie Duckworth and Nick Paproski — have had their achievements in emergency medical care recognized, first by Danbury Hospital and then by the Ridgefield Board of Selectmen. “When the ambulance shows up at your house, it’s like the emergency room showing up,” First Selectman Rudy Marconi told the June 5 selectmen’s meeting.
“The Ridgefield Fire Department was recognized as the EMS service of year,” Fire Chief Jerry Myers told the selectmen in a memorandum on honors to Ridgefield at Danbury Hospital’s Emergency Medical Service Recognition dinner, during National EMS Week in May. “This award is presented to the service that is noted to consistently work to improve their patient care through education and the service as a whole,” he said. “The service should actively look for ways to recruit and retain their volunteers or employees, and have a proven track record of improvement.”
