One woman was taken to the hospital after she and another woman fell while hiking at Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam Wednesday, according to NBC CT. The women went off the trail and then slipped, falling 20 to 30 feet from a cliff near the Connecticut River, according to the Lyme Fire Department, which responded to the scene. Emergency crews from several agencies responded and were able to get one of the women who had a leg injury to Hartford Hospital by utilizing a Haddam fire marine unit to bring her to a waiting ambulance, Lyme firefighters said. The other woman was treated at the scene and released.
