A new firefighter was sworn in as the latest member of the Greenwich Fire Department.
Scott Teulings took the oath of office from First Selectman Peter Tesei, in his final role as the town’s Fire Commissioner and official presenter of the oath of office.
Teulings has been a volunteer firefighter in the Hamden Fire Department, his hometown. On his own initiative, he has received 15 weeks of firefighting recruit training, an emergency medical certificate and a truck-driving permit.
The latest recruit to the department said he had a number of family friends and mentors who were in the fire service, and that inspired his career goals. “I’ve wanted to be a firefighter for a long time,” Teulings said, and he had heard positive notices about the Greenwich department from friends and acquaintances.
