A fire at a house on East Cotton Hill Road in New Hartford was quickly brought under control Friday night thanks to the help of multiple departments, including ones from neighboring towns, releases indicate.
“The mutual aid system in this area has been in place for many years, and it works very well,” says a release that the Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department, which sent a water tanker, an engine and a crew, posted on its Facebook page.
Burlington also sent aid, and all of New Hartford’s volunteer fire departments responded to the scene, according to a release from the South End Fire Department, which held jurisdiction over the incident. The blaze had spread from the chimney to the attic when firefighters arrived, and responders used two hose lines to get it under control, the latter release says.
