The police and fire departments recovered a sunken boat from Candlewood Lake last weekend. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection contacted Brookfield police Sunday night after receiving reports about a boat that overturned and sank in the lake, according to a post on the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department Candlewood Company’s Facebook page. The police department’s dive team responded to the scene with Candlewood Company and its Marine 25 fire/rescue boat to search for the missing boat. The sunken vessel was located with sonar equipment, and DEEP determined that the operator had escaped from the sinking vessel and only the boat and its contents would need to be recovered.
