The University of New Haven has offered up its dormitories to New Haven police and firefighters who don't want to expose their families to the new coronavirus after Mayor Justin Elicker asked. Yale University got a similar request from Elicker, but they declined. UNH is working to get student belongings out of rooms and other logistical issues, according to the New Haven Register. The city is close to finalizing an agreement with the university. The rooms would be for asymptomatic first responders who have a family member who has COVID-19 and don't want to catch it as well as first responders who may have been exposed and don't want to infect their family members. Yale University contributed $1 million to a fund to assist the city and is asking others to donate to the fund. It will match donations $1 for $1.
