A fire broke out inside a building at the local transfer station on Christian Lane Thursday afternoon. Firefighters from both Berlin and New Britain responded to CWPM, at 415 Christian Lane, around 1 p.m. An equipment accident caused a fire to break out inside a building in the rear of the property. According to CWPM, the inside of the building contained construction materials, most of which was what burned up. It was less of a fire to the building as much as it was to the materials inside. No injuries were reported. New Britain firefighters responded to the property after seeing large clouds of black smoke in the area. According to New Britain Fire Chief Raul Ortiz, his firefighters assisted, but the building turned out to be over the Berlin town line. The fire was under control within about 20 to 30 minutes.
