A car that veered off a Merritt Parkway exit ended up in the Norwalk River early Saturday morning, according to Deputy Fire Chief Edward Prescott. Prescott, who estimated the fall to be about 60 feet, said the driver of the car was not seriously injured. Firefighters got a call at 4:28 a.m. about the car in the river, between the exit 40A ramp and the 1 Glover Ave. condominiums. "When firefighters arrived with hospital paramedics and State Police, the car, a Hyundai sedan, was found on its side, in a foot of water," Prescott said. "The driver, a woman in her 20s, walked up to firefighters and said she was the only one in the car," Prescott said. The driver, who was not identified, was taken to Norwalk Hospital to be examined for any injuries.
